Gamecock Guarantee

A need-based financial and academic support initiative for first-generation college students who are South Carolina residents with family income less than 150% of the poverty level. Provides a minimum award of $5,000 per year for four continuous years of enrollment. If combined with other grants and scholarships does not meet tuition, technology fees, and average program fees, the Gamecock Guarantee increases support to cover the difference so participants pay nothing out-of-pocket. Eligibility: Must be a South Carolina resident; apply by December 1st priority deadline; admitted to USC Columbia campus; family taxable income not greater than 150% of HHS poverty guidelines; first-generation college student (neither parent completed four-year degree); eligible for federal Pell Grant; enroll as first-time, full-time freshman in fall semester; pursuing a bachelor's degree; complete FAFSA by April 1.
