Established in 2007 to encourage highly qualified teachers to serve low-income schools in high-need fields; USC began participation in fall 2009. Eligibility: Must complete FAFSA with USC school code 003448; enroll in a program preparing for teaching in high-need fields (bilingual education, foreign language, mathematics, reading specialist, science, special education); must agree to teach full-time at low-income public or private elementary/secondary schools for at least four academic years within eight years of completing the program. Grants convert to Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans if teaching obligations are not met.
