To provide college financial assistance for students who reside within the boundaries of the Birmingham School District upon high school graduation. Qualifications: Applicants must be high school and/or college students living in the Birmingham Public School District at the time of their high school graduation. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria. How to apply: Applicants must submit completed application to the student's high school counselor prior to the filing date set by the Scholar Board each year; the application must be signed by both the student and one parent certifying the truth of the application; the application requires student's and parents' current income tax information, as well as information regarding family housing, unless there is independent written verification of an established pattern of non-support by a parent; scholarship grants will be reduced by 50 percent if information is not received from both parents; the application and instructions can be printed from the webpage.
