To provide for high school seniors and/or currently enrolled full-time college undergraduates who have been endorsed by their peers, family and spiritual leaders as a person possessing a profound measure of character, commitment to service, and financial need. Qualifications: Applicants must be high school seniors or active college students; be attending, active members of their local church; have attained at least a 3.0 grade point average on 4.0 scale in previous school semester/marking period; provide an official transcript from their high school or college that includes their GPA, an official transcript is obtained from the guidance counselor or college registrar, no report cards, progress reports, photo copies, faxes, or hand delivered documents will be accepted; be already enrolled or have plans to be enrolled full time in an undergraduate degree program; be permanent residents of New York, New Jersey or Connecticut, but may attend school outside of these areas. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on committee criteria; basis of online votes-(25 points); character-(25 points); accomplishments/service-(25 points); need-(25 points). How to apply: Applicants must submit application form; should include both high school seniors and current full-time college students, enclose most recent transcript; college students, an official class schedule from registrar and proof of enrollment; copy of acceptance letter from college/university; a hi-res picture of the applicant (.jpg or tiff file) on a CD; two letters of recommendation or endorsement; (one letter of recommendation from the pastor, youth pastor, youth director, Sunday School Superintendent, or elder); the second letter of recommendation must be from a current/ former teacher, guidance counselor, principal who knows the academic capabilities of the applicant; two (2) letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes with applicants completed application.
