To recognize high school seniors who will attend an accredited institution of higher education. Qualifications: Applicants must be student properly enrolled in any curriculum at an accredited of higher education who is the child or grandchild of a member of the sea services, to include the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps, United States Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine; no restriction to race, gender, national origin, religion, age sexual orientation, or disability. Selection criteria: Preference is given to descendants of members of the USS Mahan. How to apply: Applicants must submit online application form; should include 500-word essay prompt; an official transcript; official student aid report from completed FAFSA; official SAT or ACT scores (Yes this is required); proof of qualifying service duty; a letter of recommendation; a brief biography.
