To support professionals in their research. Qualifications: Applicants research may be: clinical research, medical education research, health systems research; ineligible: applications under psi’s areas of non-support: systematic reviews and meta-analyses, fund-raising campaigns, building funds or other capital cost campaigns, operating costs of any organization or department, budget deficits, membership fees, entertainment / hospitality costs, service programs, ongoing research, psi may consider/approve studies where very preliminary activities have started, major equipment, unless required for a research project being supported by the foundation, projects where the principal investigator is located and/or the research is being completed outside the province of Ontario, films, books and journals; resident principal investigators/applicants eligible: the resident principal investigator/applicant for a resident research grant must be completing a residency program in Ontario and have a pgy status as per the college of physicians and surgeons of Ontario, psi will consider and support only one project per principal investigator at any given time, if an investigator is currently being supported by psi as the principal investigator, the foundation will not consider an application for a new project until the end of the current granting period as agreed to by the pi and psi, ineligible: applications will not be considered from the following principal investigators: applicants whose residency will end prior to the project end date, principal investigators who hold a Ph.D. but not an m.d., residents based outside of Ontario, clinical fellows; co-investigators/collaborators eligible: examples of co-investigators, and collaborators including but not limited to: faculty members who hold a Ph.D. but not an M.D., healthcare professionals who do not have an academic appointment collaborators can be anyone who is not a co-investigator but assisting with the project in some way, ineligible: applicants must not name the following as co-investigators/collaborators: students (including undergraduate, graduate/Ph.D., and medical school students), individuals whose personnel costs are included in the grant budget. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on the Committee criteria. How to apply: Applicants must submit online application form; applicants projects of duration longer than twelve months are to provide an interim report of one to two pages; PSI will withhold 10% of the value of the grant until the principal investigator submits a final report, funds returned) and a completed PSI Results of research form; this material must be submitted; where papers are published or presented, reprints or copies must be submitted to PSI; note that applicants may send electronic copies by email rather than paper copies.
