To provide financial support for young investigators conducting research in sickle cell disease. Qualifications: Applicants must have completed a doctoral degree (MD, PhD or equivalent); must have completed clinical training; must not have more than a total of five years of post-doctoral research experience by the award date; and must be affiliated with a non-profit institution of higher learning or non-profit research facility in the United States. How to apply: Applicants must submit three copies of application and research mentor's supporting documents including a letter of commitment and the biographical sketch of the mentor. The research proposal must address the broad subject of sickle cell disease in basic laboratory, clinical or psychosocial research areas. Focus: specific diseases.
