To provide financial assistance to deserving students who are attending graduate school or who have been accepted to a graduate school. Qualifications: Applicants must have been born, raised and/or have lived in one of the coastal communities of the Monterey Peninsula; must be enrolled in an advanced program of study in a field of significant public interest and benefit; must have above average academic achievement; have potential to make a significant contribution to society in general and, in particular, the coastal communities of the Monterey Peninsula; must have proven commitment to volunteerism and public service; must have demonstrated passion for community betterment and must be able to document a continuing philosophy toward community service for the area; and have responsible career goals for advancement in the chosen field. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on above average academic achievement; potential to make a significant contribution to society in general and, in particular, the coastal communities of the Monterey Peninsula; proven commitment to volunteerism and public service; demonstrated passion for community betterment and able to document a continuing philosophy toward community service for the area; responsible career goals. How to apply: Applicants must submit a completed, typed original plus one copy of the application form together with a resume/curriculum vitae (original plus one copy); a narrative autobiography (original plus one copy, maximum of two pages, double-spaced); statement of community service (original plus one copy, maximum of two pages, double-spaced); career goals (original plus one copy, maximum of one page, double-spaced); official transcripts (original plus one copy); proof of enrollment; and two letters of recommendation.
