To provide scholarships to engineering students who are specializing in the railway industry and supports other educational and training endeavors that help to ensure the future of the profession. Qualifications: Applicants must be current AREMA student member who has completed at least on quarter or semester in an accredited four or five year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate/graduate degree program; must have an interest in railway engineering, maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.5, and being available for interview by the AREMA scholarship committee. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on the committee's criteria. How to apply: Applicants must submit online application from; should include: a personal statement, not to exceed 350 words, explaining why the applicant believes he/she is deserving of an AREMA educational foundation scholarship; applicant should indicate areas of railroading which might be of particular interest (freight, signals and communication, computers, passenger and transit, bridges and structures, geotechnical, environmental, rail construction, or other) and describe how his/her attributes relate to these areas; a history of recent work experience, not to exceed 350 words; must provide information, not to exceed 150 words, of the applicants extracurricular activities/outside interests; current GPA; contact information for two references that may be contacted by the scholarship committee.
