To recognize engineering students who are specializing in the railway industry and supports other educational and training endeavors that help to ensure the future of the profession. Qualifications: Applicants must be enrolled student who has completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate degree program; must enrolled students must have completed at least one quarter or semester in an accredited four or five year engineering or engineering technology undergraduate/graduate degree program; must have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and be an AREMA member; must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program leading to a degree in engineering or engineering technology in a curriculum which has been accredited by the accreditation board of engineering and technology (or comparable accreditation in Canada and Mexico). Selection criteria: Selection will be based on the committee criteria. How to apply: Applicants must submit online applications; a personal statement, not to exceed 350 words, explaining why the applicant believes he/she is deserving of an AREMA educational Foundation scholarship; the applicant should indicate areas of railroading which might be of particular interest (freight, signals and communication, computers, passenger and transit, bridges and structures, geotechnical, environmental, rail construction, or other) and describe how his/her attributes relate to these areas; a history of recent work experience, not to exceed 350 words; provide information, not to exceed 150 words, of the applicants extracurricular activities/outside interests; current GPA; contact information for two references that may be contacted by the scholarship committee.
