To provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in welding engineering, welding engineering technology, or an engineering program with an emphasis on welding (bonding and joining included), or be a graduate. Qualifications: Applicants must have member of aws; programs must have more than 50% coursework in welding; certificate programs must be a minimum of 360 hours; four-year students in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, aerospace engineering, or materials science engineering programs may be eligible for some national scholarships if career objectives are clearly related to welding; union or apprenticeship programs are eligible, but recipient must provide documentation showing required expenses; scholarships for welding may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, or equipment required for the course of instruction; are restricted to U.S. citizens and offers an international scholarship for students attending welding school outside of North America. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on AWS Foundation Education Scholarship Committee. How to apply: Applicants must be submit online nomination form; applicants are required to submit two references and official transcripts; two letters of recommendations are required; applicant must have an official transcript sent by email or mail directly from the school or third-party transcript provider; Submission Summary must be submitted in addition to cost of attendance documentation to be eligible for these scholarships; Application includes the following components: Essay questions include: General Background Statement; Welding and/or Work Experience; Career Objectives and Goals; Cost of Attendance; must upload a summary of applicants school costs, which may include tuition, fees, books, or supplies required for the course of instruction; Transcript; must submit an official transcript from the school applicants most recently attended, which may be applicants high school, trade school, college or university; Letters of Recommendation; must request two letters of recommendation from teachers, work supervisors, mentors, coaches, youth group, troop leaders, or other individuals that can attest to applicants work ethic and past accomplishments.
