To providing a grant of financial support during attendance full or part time at any accredited university or college. Qualifications: Applicants must be member scholarship will be awarded to a member or the child, grandchild, niece, nephew or spouse of an active AIST Southern California Chapter member, or AIST student member through the Material Advantage Student Program attending a university in or living in the area of the chapter; student must be accepted in an eligible full or part time course of study at an accredited university or college; Engineering Scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a career in engineering, the sciences or other majors relating to iron and steel production; the Engineering Scholarship is for, children, stepchildren, grandchildren or spouses of an active Southern California Chapter members, or AIST student member through the Material Advantage Student Program, attending a university in, or living in, the area of the chapter; student must be accepted in an eligible full or part time course of study at an accredited university or college; must be used at an accredited college or university; student must start the course of study at the university or college in the fall of the same year that the Scholarship is awarded; student may be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in an undergraduate program or participating in a graduate program; student must be enrolled in a field of engineering; student must be the child, grandchild, niece, nephew or spouse of an AIST member or an AIST or Material Advantage member his or herself attending a university, or living in, the area of the chapter. Selection criteria: Applications will be reviewed by the Executive board of the Southern California Chapter; this awards will be made without regard to financial need. How to apply: Applicants must be submit online nomination form; Required Essay - Member Scholarship: Explain in a brief essay (250 words or less) applicants involvement in high school, college or applicants professional career and why applicants should be the recipient of this scholarship; Engineering Scholarship: Essay should convey a demonstrated interest in the steel industry, applicants professional goals, and how applicants skills could be applied to enhance the industry; current resume with work experience and any extracurricular activities, noting any leadership positions, other honors and scholarships received; Two (2) recommendation letters from a Counselor, Teacher or Professor must be included with the application; Copy of current high school or college transcripts.
