To support graduate research students in pursuing the development of innovative scientific methods in advancing the understanding of Everglades physical, chemical, or biological processes, or research in economic impacts of environmental changes. Qualifications: Applicants must be full-time graduate research students pursuing degrees in earth sciences, biological sciences, engineering, geography, planning and resources management, economics, policy, and social sciences; graduate students enrolled in any academic institution in the United States in good academic standing are welcome to apply for the ForEverglades Research Enhancement Grants. Selection criteria: Selection will be evaluated based on their relevance to and furtherance of the scientific mission of the Everglades Foundation; to restore and protect America’s Everglades. How to apply: Applicants must submit online application form; entries should contain the following: personal information; education, work and other experience; reference letters: one letter from the applicant’s major advisor and one other academic or professional letter of reference; research budget: the proposed budget should be approved by the applicant’s faculty advisor and sponsored research office prior to submitting an application; a standard budget template form will be provided for submission; personal statement: no more than 2 pages (single spaced, 11-point font) on the candidate’s accomplishments (including awards, presentations, publications), career goals and how the fellowship will support those goals and contributions; research grant proposal: no more than 2 pages (single spaced, 11-point font) describing the research that the award would support; the proposal must clearly detail the expected contributions to Everglades research and the relevance to Everglades restoration; an additional third page may be used to include graphics or tables, as well as a bibliography. Focus: Biological and clinical sciences; Earth sciences; Economics; Engineering; Geography; Resource management.
