To provide financial support to the most outstanding eligible scholars who are committed to environmental protection and conservation. Qualifications: Applicants must be a graduating high school senior or possess a GED diploma; currently live and attend school in one of the 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio; plan to pursue postsecondary studies associated with the natural sciences, including forest and wildlife management, environmental restoration, natural and historical interpretation, ecotourism and/or related-disciplines associated with protecting plants, animals and the environment; enrollment at an accredited two- or four-year higher education institution. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on committee overall commitment to environmental protection and conservation will be considered; ethical character, extracurricular activities, volunteerism and financial need will also be evaluated; overall academic performance will be considered, but the individual’s commitment, interest and desire to pursue a career in environmental sciences and/or conservation will be carefully considered.
