To support and inspire local students who aspire to careers in education or the culinary arts. Qualifications: Applicant must be a graduating senior from Gilroy High School, Christopher High School, or GECA, OR a community college graduate with an Associate of Art Degree; and must reside in the area of the Gilroy Unified School District (GUSD) in California; must plan to attend a four-year college or university and pursue approved degree programs in education or the culinary arts; must have completed community service with the Garlic Festival or other community organizations; must have demonstrated leadership in school and/or extracurricular activities; must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Selection criteria: Selection is made by the scholarship selection committee. How to apply: Applicant must submit completed online GUSD Common Scholarship Application; three letters of recommendation, two letters from a staff member-teacher, ACs, Aps, and one letter from a community service supervisor (non-school staff member nor relative); and copy of unofficial high school transcript.
