To support graduating seniors from Johnson County, KS, who are pursuing firefighter or EMT certifications. Qualifications: Applicants must be a graduating senior from a high school in Johnson County, Kansas; must plan to attend a public or proprietary educational institution; must be pursuing a Firefighter I & II certification and/or EMS certification at or above the level of Emergency Medical Technician. Selection criteria: Preference will be given in the following order: Members of the Fire Explorer Post 2884; Graduating seniors from any high school in Olathe, KS; Graduating seniors from any high school in Johnson County, KS. How to apply: Applicants must complete the general application in the scholarship portal and provide any required additional information or documents; first of two (2) required letters of recommendation from Explorer Post Advisor, high school principal or academic advisor, or community representative.; second of two (2) required letters of recommendation from Explorer Post Advisor, high school principal or academic advisor, or community representative; Write a 500 word essay stating why applicants have chosen firefighting as a career, and how applicants will use the scholarship to help achieve that goal. Focus: Emergency and disaster services; Fires and fire prevention; Health care services.
