To honor the memory of Ken Yamase and perpetuate his legacy of fair play, integrity, respect and sportsmanship. Qualifications: Applicants must be residents of the state of Hawaii; Applicants must demonstrate financial need; Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.7; Applicants must attend an accredited, two or four year, not-for-profit institution within the US (including US territories); Applicants must attend as a full time student (as determined by the school's financial aid office); Applicants must be undergraduate students; Applicants must be a senior athlete at Waiakea High School who participated in BIIF sport(s). If there are no applicants who meet this criteria, then the applicant may be a senior athlete from any other public high school except for charter schools, that is part of the BIIF; Applicants must demonstrate good sportsmanship throughout his/her BIIF participation; Applicants must provide two letters of recommendation; one letter of recommendation from the Athletic Director or coach and one from a high school teacher or counselor. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on committee members; Selection will be based on demonstrated sportsmanship, academic achievement, financial need, and letters of recommendation. How to apply: Applicants must submit online; must include the applicant's most recent unofficial grade transcript; any short essays and/or other documents that may be required or recommended for specific scholarships; the applicant's current cumulative grade point average (GPA); transcripts should be as recent as possible and should not be a duplicate from a prior HCF application; letters of recommendation are not typically required to submit the applicant's application; however, applicants must provide two letters of recommendation—one from the Athletic Director or coach and one from a high school teacher or counselor.
