To support students working toward a graduate degree in history. Qualifications: Applicants must be students working toward a graduate degree in history. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on committee. How to apply: Applicants must submit two hard copies of the essay, as well as a cover letter giving full name, address, telephone number, details of the undergraduate degree and also the graduate degree currently in progress, and the thesis and significance of the paper. The text should not exceed 25 typed and double-spaced pages, excluding footnotes, illustrations and bibliography (one-inch margins for the top, bottom, left, and right). All submissions must include footnotes and any other necessary documentation. Titles of the works cited in the essay and notes should be typed in italics and indexed if possible, using the standards set forth in the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th Edition. The essay must be a work of scholarship on a Huguenot topic; may examine any aspect of the religious, political, economic, social, or intellectual history of the French or Walloon Protestants from the sixteenth century to the present; may deal with any appropriate geographical area. Submissions must be original, not previously published and not under consideration by another publication. The author of the winning essay will be asked to submit a copy of their paper on a MS Word-Compatible CD. Focus: History.
