To support African/Caribbean students pursuing undergraduate degrees in Ontario. Qualifications: Applicant must be students of African/Caribbean background who have either Canadian citizenship or permanent residency; must be enrolled as a full-time student at an Ontario university, college or other post-secondary institution; must demonstrate involvement and leadership in school and/or community activities; must demonstrate financial need. Recipient must be able to participate in the JCA’s Scholarships Awards Recognition Event. Selection criteria: Selection criteria include: demonstrated scholastic ability; applicant essay; involvement and leadership in community and/or campus activities; significant personal achievements beyond academic ability which may include personal accomplishments in spite of adversity; financial need; references; commitment to career goals and to giving back. How to apply: Applications must be completed online. Required documents include proof of status in Canada, proof of enrollment in an Ontario postsecondary institution; two-page essay; most recent transcripts; income and expenses statement; and applicant photograph.
