The JoAnne Goss Memorial Nursing Leadership Scholarship

Award: $1000 – $1000

Deadline: April 24.

To provide scholarships in support of students demonstrating financial need in the pursuit of a nursing degree. Qualifications: Applicants must be applied to an accredited baccalaureate nursing program or an RN-BSN program in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; must be current high school students must be a matriculated undergraduate nursing student in the fall of the year in which the award is given; current baccalaureate students must be in the first, second or third year of a nursing program when the application is made; students in their final year of study or who will graduate in May of the year in which the award is given are not eligible to apply; must be current RN-to-BSN-completion students must have already been accepted into a degree-completion program at the time of application submission; applicants who are not already an RN - including BS-to-BSN students/fast-track students - must have already been accepted into a basic RN program at the time of scholarship application; membership in the Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) and/or the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) is highly recommended for those applicants who are currently enrolled in nursing prelicensure programs; member in the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association (PSNA) is required for applicants who are currently RNs; applicants should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA; applicants are required to attest to their financial need by providing information about all federal and state grant(s) and loan(s), as well as any formal documentation which demonstrates need; previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply; applicants who can provide proof of their direct relationship to a former graduate of the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing will receive additional consideration. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on committee criteria. How to apply: Applicants must submit online application form; should include: official transcript of most recent grades; two letters of reference on official letterhead; at least one letter must be an academic contact; all letters should describe the applicant’s scholastic abilities, leadership qualities, and community service; completed essays; a high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi - JPG format) headshot of the applicant in professional attire for publicity use by PSNA/NFP; essays.
