To support Hawaiian students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or 5th year/professional development certificates. Qualifications: Applicants must have a minimum GPA 2.0; must be a state of Hawaii resident; must be a undergraduate student attending a 2-year or 4-year accredited institution (including career-technology program degree or certificate program), or, graduate level certificate or degree, or, teacher seeking higher accreditation or certification to expand and upgrade their skill level. Selection criteria: Completed applications submitted by the program deadline date and time are reviewed according to specific fund criteria; applications are sent to individual selection committees for review and selections; preference to those attending Hawaii Community College or the University of Hawaii at Hilo, Half-Time enrollment allowed. How to apply: Applicant must submit online application form along with submit a personal statement which demonstrates interest in Hawaiian culture, language or arts; illustrates service to the community; aligns education goals with efforts to improve Hawaii's future, i.e. contribute to the diversification of Hawaii's economy, increase food security, energy independence, emergence of creative industries, support safe and healthy communities, Two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher (or colleague if applicant is a teacher) and one from a community member who can comment on personal character and aspiration.
