To help fund college for students. Qualifications: Applicants must be a current high school senior or graduate, have earned a ged certificate, or currently be a postsecondary undergraduate student; have a minimum gpa of 3.0, based on a 4.0 scale; must plan to enroll in an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university in the U.S. in the fall of previous year; be a smud customer living in smud's service area, or have a parent or legal guardian as a smud customer; be a high school senior or college freshman, sophomore or junior; be a current SMUD customer or have parent/legal guardians who are SMUD customers. Selection criteria: Selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the recipients considering: financial need; community involvement; academic achievements and records; essay contest (semi-finalists only); Preference will be given to students with a major relevant to a career at SMUD.
