To assist students pursuing careers in the areas of air and water pollution control and hazardous waste management, such as transportation control measures, acidic deposition, indoor air quality, new or improved control technology, and physical or chemical characterization of pollutants. Qualifications: Applicants must be pursuing a graduate-level course of study and research leading to a career related to air or water quality, waste management, pollution prevention, environmental policy, compliance, law, or sustainability; must be attending a full-time graduate program at a university located in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, or Tennessee; are encouraged to be student members of the A\&WMA or environmental professionals returning to school for graduate study; eligible areas of study may include research and development of new or improved air or water pollution control technologies, waste treatment, reuse or recycling technologies, physical or chemical characterization of pollutants, and innovative policies aimed at achieving environmental benefits. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on the Committee criteria. How to apply: Applicants must submit an online application; include information regarding the applicant's plan of study; a statement of professional goals discussing planned graduate study and the significance and relation between coursework and research, and professional objectives, limited to a maximum of two single-spaced typed pages; transcripts for baccalaureate and higher degrees (photocopies acceptable); verification of graduate school acceptance with documentation confirming attendance at a qualifying graduate program; a résumé detailing part-time and full-time work experience including dates of employment, employers, and responsibilities; may also include information regarding community participation, professional registration or certification status, and scholarships or fellowships received, limited to a maximum of two single-spaced typed pages; two letters of recommendation are required and may be enclosed with the application or sent separately by the references.
