To provide financial support for the surviving family members of employees who died from an on-the-job accident, and/or whose injuries qualify for lifetime income benefits, to have the chance to pursue education and training to help them build better futures. Qualifications: Applicants must be injured employees of Texas Mutual policyholders whose injuries qualify them for lifetime benefits may be eligible. Lifetime benefits are outlined under Section 408.161 of the Texas Workers' Compensation Act; dependents, the children and/or spouse of a person who: was employed by a Texas Mutual policyholder; died as a result of a compensable work-related accident OR has injuries that qualify them for lifetime benefits; children must be unmarried, between the ages of 16 and 25, and eligible for workers' compensation benefits; Surviving spouses (in cases of workplace fatalities) must be unmarried and eligible for workers' compensation benefits; must be considered a full-time student and maintain a 2.50 GPA. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on financial need and availability of funds.
