To encourage students to pursue degrees in fields related to agriculture. Qualifications: Applicant must be a Vermont resident seeking an undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree in a field related to agriculture including, but not limited to, animal sciences, equine studies, agribusiness, plant and soil sciences, forestry, horticulture, or veterinary medicine or technology; must be attending an accredited school approved for federal Title IV funding. Selection criteria: Selection is based on essay and recommendation letter. How to apply: Applicants must submit the Unified Scholarship Application, one recommendation letter (non-relative), and essay (general essay); must prepare required documents, label each document with the document name, name, and the last four digits of Social Security number (or birth date in place of Social Security number for documents submitted by others on behalf); The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for any VSAC-assisted scholarship with demonstrated financial need as a criterion for eligibility; Each recommendation letter must be from a non-relative (such as a counselor, principal, teacher, employer, business leader, neighbor, or family friend), written by the letter-writer him or herself, include name and date of birth as well as a letter number and name, be on official letterhead from the letter-writer's school, business, college, organization, etc. and/or be physically signed by the letter-writer; The general recommendation letter must address achievements and/or strengths, talent and/or potential for success, involvement in the school and/or community, character, initiative, and/or leadership, commitment to completing education beyond high school, commitment to chosen career or field of study, education and work ethic.
