To provide financial assistance to Virgin Islands residents who desire to attend law school and to return home to live and work. Qualifications: Applicants must be a college graduate who has been accepted to or is attending a law school accredited by the American Bar Association; must be a permanent resident of the United States Virgin Islands and plans to engage in the practice of law in the United States Virgin Islands within three (3) years of graduation from law school; who are already attending law school must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75; who have not started law school must have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.00. Selection criteria: Selection will be based on the application. How to apply: Applicants must be submit online application form; application, include the following: a letter of acceptance to a law school approved by the American Bar Association or most recent transcript from that institution if already enrolled in law school; applicant must take the required number of credits as deemed necessary by the law school attending to be considered a full time student; three letters of recommendation, one from a former college or law school professor and the rest from individuals that are not related to the applicant by blood or marriage; an essay on career objectives and how the schooling plan will prepare to attain these goals; (Essay must be typewritten.) (A new essay must be submitted each year apply.); an official copy of undergraduate college transcript if entering first year of law school; a copy of Student Financial Aid form [FAF], or the equivalent thereof.
